While living in southern California when I was a child, I spent most of my time catching snails and watching the Brady Bunch, The Partridge Family and Gilligan's Island.  I learned how to crewel embroidery at summer school while I lived in Fountain Valley.  I picked it up right away and discovered that lazy daisy stitches were my favorite.
I've still got an old blue cat stitched on burlap tucked away in my truck that I stitched with my mom when I was 7.  My very first piece I stitched was a little cross stitch towel when I was 6 or so.  I wish I could find it.  The verse read "East, West, Home's Best"  with a cute little bird in a nest.

My name is Marcie Bringhurst.  I live in the desert southwest with my husband of almost 25 years and my three of our six children.  Our oldest son was married in September, our oldest daughter is attending school to get her Bachelor’s Degree in Costume Design and was married in April.  Our family is growing!  Our third child is currently serving a mission in the Romania Bucharest mission.

I started counted cross-stitch when I was pregnant with our first son and I couldn't get enough.  After years of putting things on the walls that someone else designed, I finally found a reason to create my own.  I happen to love Classic Pooh.  A cross stitch pattern wasn't available for a lithograph I loved so I decided to create one for my own personal use.

After messing up several times and starting over as many times (the curse of a perfectionist)  I finally finished it and it hangs proudly in my music room.

A few years later, my sister mentioned that she wanted a really nice design based on the Book of Mormon scripture in Alma 34:38.  I told her I'd be happy to make her one and got to work.  It took a while to complete, but finishing that project was a milestone for me.  I realized that I could design just about anything I wanted and started doing just that.

I discovered that I really enjoyed designing LDS designs.  I'd work on one and get an idea for another one before I was finished with the first.  I work best with many pots on the fire.

How many of you celebrate Groundhog Day?

My family is my joy.  My kids keep me young.  They all have a crazy sense of humor which they get from their father.  All of them are artistic, musical and/or creative in one way or another.

I am an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and have a firm testimony of the Gospel and my Savior.  My husband and I were married in the Provo temple on November 24, 1982.  That is one of the most comforting things to me, to know that when I die, I'll still have my best friend with me.

I hope you enjoy looking around these pages and check back occasionally because I'm always creating something new.

Happy Stitching!
